Ciara and Justin Timberlake Start a Fire with "Love Sex Magic" Video

I was reading over at Soul Bounce about the new Ciara video featuring Justin Timberlake called "Love Sex Magic."

Here's an excerpt:

Someone please explain why Justin Timberlake continually gets a pass to fetishize and exploit the image of Black women. Right now. Because after watching him aggressively pulling on a chain wrapped around Ciara's neck only to later use her bending body as a leaning post in her new video for "Love Sex Magic," it's getting ludicrously difficult to understand.

Here's my opinion. I am pretty sure that Ciara had NO problem letting Justin Timberlake, a staple on "White boy lists" the world over, lick, pull, tug or caress her. As such, this is still Ciara's video and she has options. I know that she's not a heavyweight in the music industry like say Britney or Rihanna, but unless she was raped by her producers and/or music label, she is the main one responsible for letting this video go where it went.

And let me tell you, it went there. From the first few seconds of this video, sex was being oozed so much I thought my computer would melt. She does not seem to have any issues with this white guy all over her, and I am sure there are quite a few black women who would not mind either.

Why is it that there is an issue with Justin Timberlake "manhandling" Ciara, that POOR innocent girl (yeah right)? Why is there no issue with the fact that these two people are giving "The Red Shoe Diaries" a run for its money with their hypersexualized video? Of course the sex is only ever an issue when it's a white guy doing the dominance for some people.

I can't really watch the video because Ciara tries too hard and she should know better. I watched it, but I had to skip parts. If I want to see shit like that, I will film me and my boyfriend. But then again, it seems like female singers have gone into some neo-pseudo-prostitution where if they don't fuck for tracks, they damned sure better sound or look like they are fucking on the track or the video for the track.

Why can't we ask why black female artists still feel obligated to sell ass on video when they know it's damaging to the psyches of young black girls and boys? Why the weakness?

This is why we do not get the respect we deserve. We are selective in what we call out. When I say selective, I mean that we hold other races to an even higher standard than our own, EVEN when we are our own worst enemies.

It starts with us. Until then, Justin will continue to turn willing pop tarts out on camera. Talk about magic...

this video....WOW. that was more than a little much. and of course, you've brought up a great point; why do ppl complain only when there's a white person involved? it's like when a white person kills a black person - everyone goes crazy. but when it's black on black...? why should black ppl accept the misogyny and crime when it's coming from their own??? it's ridiculous. the argument of "they do it too!" is pointless and lowering, and it's not ok. tsk tsk.

crap video, crap track...
ciara knows better but selling her body is the way of the music industry world... her execs need to collect on the marketing budget already spent...& she's not been that hot of late...
she's even wearing a few of beyonce's cast offs... poor thing...
justin is always happy to step in to add 'weight' to a track - it must be in his contract that he gets to molest the woman he is working with...

It would be no big deal if it was Justin and a white girl. This is just typical music video stuff. It's a good thing Justin dates white; he would probably have people after him if they thought he was doing this to a black girl in real life.

I am biased because I am a JT fan and it's pretty tame compared to things I've heard about him with BW in real life.

Wow..."Crazy Horse" in Vegas, the actual burlesque show she ripped all her scenes from, does it better...less raunchy, more classy. This video was sad...on many levels...too many for me to list. I kinda felt embarrassed and deeply hurt at the same time while watching...why'd she flaunt herself like that? damn.

I am disappointed in her but not surprised. I could see that she was stepping up her "hoe shit" game with every single, but even in the beginning there was something slightly organic about her. Now, not so much.

Exsqueeze me but how is she a 'ho?!! And why is it EVERY DAMN TIME there is any trace of black female sexuality in this world it should be shot down?!! God forbid a black woman EVER express herself in any way that isn't pure and demure what a crock of CRAP!! And funny how you holier thans who whine[because that's all you do]like crazy about rappers have NO ISSUE with the way black women are depicted in Hollywood movies,tv shows, reality tv,by sports commentators, the media, and black male comedians. Right because it's ALL RAPPERS FAULT black women are so 'looked down' upon by society and if you believe that I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you dirt cheap! The problem really is you all have issues and uncomfortablity with your sexuality so you look for a scapegoat. I'd much rather see attractive, young, thin, pretty women in rap videos or would you all prefer the 'mammy' stereotype to still be popular?!

Well, I for one can honestly say that I have no problems with my sexuality. I think that Ciara is beautiful and she looks good in the video. She's not a victim and she had total control of what she wanted to do with Justin. Freedom of expression in that situation should not be prohibited. It's up to the individual if they want to look at it.

Anonymous,

I took my PRECIOUS ass time responding to you because you're so wrong that I just didn't feel the need to make responding to you a priority.

I am VERY comfy in my sexuality and quite frankly, I am thinking that I will give your "tirade" it's own post because your ignorance has inspired me.

Bless up yuh self, gyal!

So if I disagree with you I'm 'wrong'?!! Well thanks for pointing out that you are a thin-skinned tyrant as well as hypocrite. And no surprise you totally missed my point if you truly have No problem with your sexuality as you say then why is it always a national damn 'crisis' every time there is ever any sexuality expressed by a black female? The same people who speak out not only don't say JACK when it's white females[and now Latinas] but seem to enjoy the view just like the same hypocrite MSM that started this crap in the first place. Any time there is a 'discussion' about black women and sexuality it's ALWAYS complaints, criticisms, and negavtivity that doesn't sound like people who are 'comfortable' to me.

To the contrary, you were wrong because you had to resort to ad hominem attacks to compensate for your apologism. You can disagree but why the fuck are you so defensive? Ciara is that you?
