Special Olympian Hannah Geiger Brutally Attacked in Hate Crime. Of Course, She's Making It Up, Right?

This beautiful young lady you see here is a talented and accomplished Special Olympian named Hannah Geiger. She was brutally attacked by two men, in what is being considered a hate crime. Here's the story:

A report on Q13 Fox News says a 19 year old woman was the victim of a hate crime in Magnolia. The woman says she was attacked near her Magnolia home when three suspects yelled racial slurs and demeaning words while beating her.

The attack happened Monday afternoon. Hannah Geiger says she was walking to the Magnolia Community Center about two and a half blocks from her house when the suspects jumped her.

“They kicked me and hit me, they hit me in the face where these bruises are, they got me almost all over. My back hurts from being kicked in the spine,” said Geiger. “I’m sure it’s a hate crime and that’s what gets to me, I don’t understand hate.”

Her mother Ruth Geiger is the pastor at the Magnolia United Methodist Church. She told the TV station that her daughter is a Special Olympian who had just won a silver medal and would much rather show off her medals instead of the deep bruises on her body.

Ruth Geirger can’t figure out why anyone would want to harm her special needs daughter. “It’s hard for me to understand why somebody would do something to someone, anyone, but certainly someone who is as wonderful as she is,” said Geiger.

Ruth adopted Hannah from Haiti as an infant with serious medical problems. But she’s overcome many of those ailments except a seizure disorder that requires brain surgery this summer.

I wasn't there, so I don't know for sure what happened. What I do know, is this young lady is a fighter. She was abandoned by her parents in Haiti, due to her ailments, and went on to kick ass at the Special Olympics. There is something so endearing about Hannah. She seems so sweet, this is why I am saddened at comments like these over at the Magnolia Voice:

Billy 2 days ago You don't have to feel guilty. This story was fishy from day one. Say that in public though and you'd be crucified.

Heidi 1 week ago I, too, have felt that perhaps there is more to the story than has been told (and have felt guilty for feeling that way.) It just does not add up. An attack in the middle of the day on a main street with no eye witnesses?

Did you know this was picked up by the Associated Press? A friend sent me a newspaper clipping from a NY paper.

Anyway, I wish Hannah the best and hopefully both she and the neighborhood can move forward now.

I am not going to pull the race card, but I would love to know WHY people are so quick to question this girl. I am pretty sure that if some young woman were writhing on the ground, beating herself up, attacking herself, etc. someone would've come forward by now. This is Washington. Any opportunity to take someone down a peg is taken. Especially if they are wrong.

She has BRAIN seizures. Now if Hannah is predisposed to deception, I'm thinking she's a doctor to know what hits will render her wounded, without possibly killing herself.

If her background were different, would the questions still be there? I am not sure. I know that I am disgusted at how quick people are to dismiss her claim. If it were two black men that attacked her, I question if anyone would've questioned her story then too.

The good thing is that she does have support from the community, and I'm going to see about getting an address to write to her.

I'm not saying to believe her story outright, I am just questioning the quickness to label her fishy or suspect right off the bat.

what is up this week...
right wingers are now openly going after black children...
it feels like the end of days..
so much arm chair outrage... nothing being done...
it is as though the election of obama is enough now..
i have said it elsewhere...
obama showed you the way (i am european and so objective in my observances but not unfeeling...)
there is still work to do on the ground...
he cannot do it for you - he has a country to run..
at the moment obama is overseas doing his best for every american even these rednecks as he was sworn in to do...
the responsibility is yours...
am increasingly saddened by what is happening.. it's like you are all still basking in the election victory and the right wing is mobilised and getting away with almost murder..... actual murder if the taserings are to be counted in this...
how far are they going to get before any action will be taken???

What's with calling it the 'Special Olympics'?
That's a bit outdated, surely

In my mind and to me, the young lady is talented period. I know kids that have no "ailments" that can't do what she does on their best day. The establishment chooses to call them Special Olympians to simply distinguish. Naturally, it helped this story because people are more inclined to help someone with a "disability." I wish I made the rules, but I don't.

I don't personally have too much of a problem with the term Special Olympian because I think they're extremely gifted and special to overcome these major obstacles and compete.
