Well, as sometimes happens, a family member responded in comments:
Well let me tell you alittle somethIng!. Bart wasn't all thuggish or shit like that he is a scary little boy. scared of loosing something. We let my cousin do wat she wanted all we could do was let her do her. Nobody ever would have thought it would come out as this result. Bart was a regular person with problems that he needed to solve. which he didnt know how to so he used violence as an answer. So really its not the families fault. STOP MAKING EXCUSES!! That boy was damn near a grown man, first and foremost. You are not under ANY OBLIGATION to make excuses for this BEAST who killed your "cousin." You should TAKE responsibility because I am SURE that you knew this "scared little boy" had a checkered past, and you still "let her do her."
Had you done something MORE than what you were doing, she may STILL be alive today.
You didn't think he would do anything because you CHOSE to remain blinded and oblivious. You wanted to remain ignorant, and your ignorance cost her her life most likely.
Shame on you for defending him. Don't try to prove yourself to me. Do right by her and HELP another sister, or brother, out in your community. Volunteer in her name, speak out against domestic violence. CHANGE and BE BETTER THAN YOU WERE AND ARE. You can change and make a difference, damn it.
