This Is What Australia Thinks of Black People? Blackface Fuckery on "Hey Hey It's Saturday" show

This is funny:

In the movie "Tropic Thunder," Robert Downey Jr. plays Australian Oscar-winning actor Kirk Lazarus whose playing the role of a black actor in the movie that they are making within the film.

That shit was funny. I got it. I was not offended in the least, because it was actually a parody of the little some know about African-Americans and their history. It doesn't always work, but Downey made it work. He can do that.

This shit featured on Australia's "Hey Hey It's Saturday" show was trashy, tacky and ignorant beyond comprehension:

The two male judges, one of which was Harry Connick Jr., gave them a score of 0 (Connick Jr.) and the other gent gave them a score of 1, which was too kind in my opinion. It wasn't nearly as kind as the old hag who gave them a score of 7 (with a little flower drawn on it) for good measure.

Matter of fact, fast forward to 1:50, and you will see Harry's face say it all. He later goes on to break it down at 4:40 where he affirms that he would not have been on the show at all, had he known that routine was part of the show.

Might I add that this is why I FUX with Harry??? I digress...

To be fair, it sounded like most of the audience booed them, so that helps.

What doesn't help is someone signing off on this type of blatantly disgusting, racist crap in the first place. This is what happens when people think that racism is limited to hoods, burning crosses and swastikas. They will believe that as long as they don't have someone coming on the show with a "Die Negroes, Die!" routine, that something like blackface is completely done "in fun."

You know what though? Keep the blackface, because how can I get mad at something that is so blatantly inaccurate? That's like getting mad at the crazy guy on the street talking about the sky being pink... It's pointless and he looks totally fucking insane.

The "lead singer" or the jackass playing Jacko had this to say:

"All six of us discussed this at length whether or not we should put this on because we realised it may be controversial," he said. "We did go to the trouble of checking with the production staff and they seemed to OK it."

"It certainly was not meant to be racist in any way at all," Dr Deva said. "I think he (Connick Jr) is taking it the wrong way."

Are you kidding me? Dude, you're Indian!!! When I turned up a Google Search on Indians in Australia, I was greeted with headlines about anti-racist rallies of Indian students in Australia, and about attacks on Indians there, in what seem to be a rash of hate crimes.

The fact that they "thought" it over and still decided to do it speaks volumes about them.

It doesn't matter what you think anymore, Mr. Deva. You and your cohorts thought about it, and you jumped. Okay.

Harry, and everyone else can TAKE offense to your stupidity and the act borne from it, and that's the way it is. You are nobody to tell anyone that they are taking it the wrong way. You can control what you do, but you cannot control the way people react. If you engage in fuckery, expect to be called to the table.

The problem with bigots like him is they expect everyone to be in agreement, and those who are not, are being overly sensitive. That's deflecting and it's a coping mechanism stupid people use to protect their idiocy. Challenge these bastards every step of the way, and let them have it.

If I were a judge, I'd have given them negative 100.

Let's hope that if Deva, or any of his cohorts, end up on the wrong end of the racist stick, that his racist routine is remembered fondly. We all know how racists withold from engaging in hate crimes if the subject of their ire is racist too...

ADDITION:

Let me add that Harry's response was better than anything I expected. For me, this is the way anyone who claims to be "post-racial" should respond. He let it be clear that it was wrong. It wasn't a uber awesome response, but it was pretty damned good, and I respect him for speaking up. Most people would not have...
