I am sad today, guys. Aside from the tragic death of Brittany Murphy ("Rollin' with tha homies!" She was so awesome in Clueless), Sesame Street's Alaina Reed Hall (who portrayed Olivia) died after battling breast cancer.
*sigh*
I got misty eyed. See I remember watching Sesame Street as a kid, and it was so nice to see her and "Gordon" because not only did they look like me, they fit in and were welcome into this great diverse family where everyone was pretty happy. They were so motherly and fatherly, so kind. It always warmed my heart to see them on the show.
In a time where there weren't many people of color on television, it was a good feeling to see Alaina. She wasn't just from Sesame Street though, she had a career on Broadway and starred in another one of my favorite shows growing up, 227.
