THE ALL-AMERICAN Basketball League has said in a news report that they plan to start off the inaugural season with a 12-team lineup of all-white, American-born players.
"Only players that are natural-born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," the statement was quoted by the news agencies.
The team however denies it being a racial move. "There’s nothing hatred about what we’re doing," a player of the All-American Team told the Augusta Chronicle. "I don’t hate anyone of color. But people of white American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here’s a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like."
The player of the All-American basketball team stressed on the fact that original basketball game is much different than how it is played in the streets by "people of color". He said that it was necessary to make an all-white team because recent scandals involving non-American players have tarnished the image of professional basketball.
"Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands" he told the paper. "That’s the culture today, and in a free country we should have the right to move ourselves in a better direction."
The idea has been slammed by the Mayor of Augusta, one of the 12 cities the league is looking forward to perform in.
I've seen a few basketball games in my time, and while I know that "street ball" is a little grittier, BASKETBALL is BASKETBALL. I used to play with kids of all races, and I've not seen any difference in play except for the showboaters. Now, last I checked, showboaters come in all races and sizes, creeds, sexes, you get the picture. But of course, you have an uneducated contingent that blames societies ills SOLELY on ONE group of people in an effort to validate the shitty way they see themselves.
I can't be mad because it is so staggeringly ignorant, that my mind cannot and will not comprehend. I'm not going to force it to either. I'll just put this under "sad sacks of shit" in my mental category and keep it pushing.
At the end of the day, the "diverse" NBA players and league will still make TONS of money. Kids of all sexes and races will still look up to Jordan and Lebron James AND Larry Bird and Jon Stockton while these lames bitch about their "fundamental basketball."
