By now you've heard about the fuckery that went down at this years MTV Video Music Awards. The only thing that could top it, would be if Soulja Boy, Chris Brown, T-Pain, Lil' Wayne and Drake, put on top hats, suits and danced a jig to "Jump Jim Crow" at the BET Hip Hop Awards. I have a feeling Viacom will ensure that BET tops MTV in the level of fuckery, but I digress.
I am not going to make a long post about this, I'll just give my top five observations:
1) This Was About Race Issues He Has Within Himself: I am not sure if Kanye West jumped up there due to racist reasons. On one hand, the guy has a history of going after what appear to be white acts who seem wholesome or non-threatening in some way. He hasn't fucked with Green Day. He wouldn't dare do that to Eminem, I don't care what the circumstances are. Could it be that his willingness to stage-crash could be attributed to ideas that he has about the artists' race? Absolutely. However, if Kanye West is racist towards whites, and white people genuinely feel that way, they can take a number. A number of us have been decrying West's colorism for some time. I was surprised he jumped Taylor because that brat loves him some white girls. So in all reality, this is not anything personal against white folks in general. The guy has issues with everyone but himself.
2) He Kind of Was On To Something: I am not defending Kanye. I don't like the guy. His music is most often a "miss" for me, and I thought he was a poser. He seemed to be trying to embrace the "blipster" culture, but didn't have the "culture" or the intelligence to pull it off. I find nothing appealing about him. I don't like him for the reasons I don't like Diddy. With that said, he had a point, not in that Beyonce should've won, but that at the MTV Video Music Awards, a Beyonce should've won, over a country artist like Swift.
I like Taylor. She seems like a sweet girl. I liked her "Teardrops on My Guitar" song a lot. She reminds me of what Faith Hill was to my generation, but younger. I'm not saying that Beyonce should've won either. Her video was basic, with the exception of swagger-jacked choreography. I just don't know why Taylor was even nominated for an Moon Man, when she's a staple over at CMT, a sister network to MTV.
If he had any issues, he should've been a man, and voiced his concerns civilly, not like a rabid mental ward patient.
3) Leave Him Be, Black Folks: As witnessed with the Chris Brown debacle, it seems that black folks like to support people who aren't worthy of that kind of loyalty, Kanye West being one of those people. I saw a bunch of folks supporting him on Facebook. Come on! She was a kid. What he did was embarrassing and rude, and it was hurtful. She looks like if you blew on her too hard, she'd fall.
Some Black folks need to stop supporting black men and women who do nothing but throw bitch fits and temper tantrums for attention. This was NOT a just nor honorable thing to do.
4) Twitter Racism: I didn't even THINK to read the tweets in the Kanye West trending topic, but I knew some would use this as their "Annual Say The Word Nigger" day and quite a few did, as witnessed over here at MediaAssassin.
What he did was wrong and it was disgusting, but calling him a nigger because he made you mad just means that your brain cannot handle rational thought or critical thinking. It means that you are not able to form a logical hypothesis. Again, you could inject race into his actions, yes. But it had little to do with, "I wanna attack me a white womenz" and everything to do with his insecurities being repressed and being repackaged into a package, used as a front, that alleges racism everywhere he goes.
If you're going to be a Billy Badass on Twitter, you'd better be educated enough, or truly racist enough to stick with your words, and deal with the repercussions. You have freedom of speech, just like I have the freedom to react to your speech any way I please. If you believe otherwise, you're just as naive and foolish as West.
5) Make Him Accountable From Now On: Kanye West has been saying and doing bullshit things for years now. It's cool when he rags on black women and others, but when Taylor's attacked, now everybody cares. He should've been accountable from the beginning. The writing was on the wall years ago, but nobody cared because his shots were fired at people who society at large could give a damn about. Had people had enough courage to take him to task for his bullshit back then, this icident might have been averted.I'm moving on. Racists on the internet are less than a dime a dozen. These idiots--E-thugs and West both--need each other because they feed off of each other's stupidity and lack of culture to validate their ridiculous views.
Match made in heaven.
